Coffee. For some people, it’s more than a drink. It’s a way to connect. It’s a way to be alone. To speak with yourself or with universe during your regular coffee break. And, ok, sometimes it’s just a way to wake up and get job done.

Ever since I was probably way too young to be drinking it, coffee has been a huge part of my life and routine. In Lombok island where I was born it was everywhere. In Indonesia there many places where coffee is farming, but only in my homeland you probably could get a full set of perfect conditions enough to produce as perfect coffee as possible. What conditions am talking about? Many farms are placed 1000 meters and higher above sea level, there are plenty (but not too much) of annual rainfall, outdoor temperature is not too hot and too not too cold, closeness to an active volcano (Mount Rinjani), second highest in all Indonesia give local people an opportunity to to raise their crops on top of rich with minerals volcanic soil. One of the biggest treasures Lombok island have it its people – our farmers who worked in coffee industry for generations.

PS: Indonesia is the fourth largest coffee exporting nation in the world, and 95% of all beans are grown by small-holders: people who usually have only one to three hectares of land. Most of these people are usually at the mercy of middle men and market forces. Coffee Hush was founded from inside farmers community to exploit Lombok people, but to help them. We partnered with five farms already and give them advice, training, and capital when needed. In 2021 Coffee Hush have refined its model of business by building a dry processing station that allows to increase the capacity of partnered farmers in our area.

We are located in a town in Eastern Lombok close to farms. Our small, multinational team consists of Indonesians from several ethnic groups, Hong Kong Chinese, and even of a couple of Europeans. We develop trustworthy two-way relationships between our buyers and suppliers.
