Civet cat coffee, known in Indonesian language as Kopi Luwak, is one of the world’s most unique coffee. This coffee is famous for its unique method of processing: passing through the digestion tract of the catlike civet. The luwak eats ripe coffee cherries and, after it has digested the fruity pulp, excretes the coffee beans. Civet cat coffee took the international coffee market by storm and has gone from relatively unknown to a gold mine of specialty coffee. Since it was first discovered in the 19th century, luwak coffee has become both internationally acclaimed and reviled.
The Taste
The surprising popularity of civet coffee can be explained by its unusual and rich taste. Luwak coffee is praised for being smooth, sweet, and earthy. It has hints of caramel and chocolate and is often drunk without sugar or milk. It is said digestive enzymes of the civet remove some of the coffee’s bitterness and create a flavor that coffee connoisseurs with money to spare consider delicious.
In truth wild civet cats were free to sample the coffee berries as they wished and only ate the ripest, freshest berries. Workers forced to strip pick the berries, on the other hand, were far less exacting than a wild cat. Luwak coffee was also more effectively processed than standard methods back then. The civets’ digestive system gets rid of all of the cherry’s pulp much better than processing methods of the time were able to.

Dear Death Wish, I just tried your coffee after receiving it the other day. I always start my day with about 4 cups so I thought, “Eh, why not”. After about the 3d cup I decided to start that kitchen demolition I had been wanting to do. But I forgot to turn off the water beforehand. Then I thought, “Eh, I always wanted an indoor pool”. Then I thought I should cut a hole in the roof to accommodate a skylight for the pool. Everything is going to plan but I need more coffee now. I need to start on installing the diving board.

I have tried many different Luwak coffees in my life, but this one made by Coffee Hush is the very best. I have a one cup coffee maker and no matter how much or how little I use, it brews. A perfect cup every time. I can’t go back to any other coffee, I am sold! You can’t go wrong with this purchase!!!

I have heard lots of information about these beans and have always been curios about how Cat’s Poop Coffee tastes. I received the product in a damaged box but long journey did not compromise the actual package of coffee. This defect was on the shipping side and not with Coffee Hush. I made a batch of coffee that afternoon I got it just because I was super excited to try it. The smell was very pleasing with a nice coffee and a hint of chocolate smell. The first taste took me by surprise, SOOO smooth!

Got this for my boyfriend as part of his Birthday gift. Unusual, rare, exotic.. He is a bit of a coffee connoisseur and he also found this coffee absolutely delicious. It is full bodied and freshly ground tastes great. The bag was delivered two weeks ago and it is almost finished for now. Seems we will order same coffee more..

So I saw this Civet Cat coffee on Buzzfeed and me being the coffee junkie that I am did not hesitate to order it. It was hell of an experiment, but in the end.. It was Super Yummy! Excellent aroma! It also arrived a day EARLIER than promised! So I was really satisfied! I’m a disabled barista, and have not much ways of finding new coffees outside my own house in a real world. Thank you mighty internet. I’m very pleased with my purchase of Luwak Coffee.

I got this at the recommendation of a friend since I’d been having acid reflux after my morning coffee. I would go sugar free, use almond milk instead of cream and nothing seemed to make a difference. Then my friend suggested trying a low acid coffee like most Italian or European brands and suggested this one specifically. No more acid reflux in the morning and the coffee tastes great to boot!

I bought this as a contribution to my office supply but also as a joke. Suddenly cat’s poop coffee became a big hit. Everyone likes the flavor. I keep the leftover in a cup in the fridge overnight. My only advise is not to drink it all fast. Try to enjoy flavors for longer. I usually prefer a breakfast blend for both flavor and higher caffeine content, but this Luwak thing is far better than any breakfast blend I can remember having.

Woooow, I’m writing a review on coffee. I state this as I would not do this but I had to make an acceptance here. With that said, this coffee is all that and more exceeding. I have consumed flavors from around the globe and this ranks high on my list. Civet Cat manufactured))) You can drink it black and it doesn’t have a bite but a smooth taste to it. What I’m saying is, don’t second guess your self just buy this coffee and experience it by yourself!

I bought this by accident the first time. I though it was ground coffee but it’s in fact coffee beans. And I for sure did not know what Luwak means.. But let me tell you… my mistake introduced me to one of the best tasting coffees I have had in a long time. It really does remind me of my childhood, good old days, and grinding the beans is easy I use my blender to do it, there is no need to buy a grinder.

I was pretty hesitant to try the Civet cat coffee. But my friend recommended it a lot, so I decided that Coffee Hush brand is worth a try.
Me and my husband were not disappointed. I was actually very pleasantly surprised by this coffee. The medium roast is very pleasant, not too dark, not to light. I generally prefer very dark roasts, while my husband prefers lighter roasts, so this was our compromise.

Bought this for my boyfriend on a whim for Christmas this past year. He’s been working on a project at school for over a year now and this year, especially, has just drained the life out of him with 12 hour work days. Even though I’m not a coffee drinker, and have no knowledge on the subject, apparently I picked a good one because he asked for it again for his birthday. When I went down to see him after the first buy, he had shared it with his roommate, and fellow coffee connoisseur, and they both said it’s the best coffee they’ve ever had. “Smooth” was the word they both described. I asked what it tasted like and they both said “It’s like….I don’t know, it’s rich, but it’s like, just a really really smooth coffee.” Score! Can you imagine his face when I told him that this coffee was made from cat’s “leftovers”?)))

I got this on a whim, cause I’ve heard of it, and wanted to see what it was like for myself. Turns out it’s some of the best coffee I’ve ever had. I’m a college student, and have been drinking coffee for years. This coffee is super solid. Not super bitter, it’s smooth, it’s a nice drink to have in the morning while on the porch, in your rocking chair, or in a thermos, prepping for a long day of meetings and brain rot.

I brought 3 bags of Coffee Hush to try – Arabica, Robusta and a 3rd one Luwak. This one (Luwak) have the best flavor for me. Cat produced it rich and powerful but not bitter:)

My stepdad made some coffee and it blew my mind. I had to know how he made it so great in his cheap old coffee pot, better than any expensive chain coffee. I and my husband are now hooked on this stuff. This is a smooth and robust flavor.

Me and the girlfriend started drinking coffee regularly a few years ago. After trying a few brands and keeping the giant tubs of Folgers around the house we decided to try some more expensive brands to see what all the fuss was about. We bought a few different ones to test and decide which we liked better.
We planned to go through all 4 of them and make our decision, but it didn’t take that long.
DWC came out ahead very quickly. The taste is very memorable. Cats did their job well! We also appreciate that Coffee Hush people are committed to sustainability, while providing high quality organic beans.
